Merito
Case Journey

26 tools. One path. You're never guessing what's next.

Every tool in Merito does one thing well — but a real petition needs all of them, in some order, at the right time. Case Journey is the map: seven stages, from your first document to a filed petition (and back, only if an RFE ever arrives), each one showing exactly what's done, what's next, and why it matters.

Try it — this is the real map.

Not a mockup. Click through the stages below exactly like a real user would; the artifacts and detail panels are the same product UI, fed a fictional sample case.

Sample case — not real data

Follow the path, or use any tool directly — the map keeps up either way.

Position

A strong record still needs a coherent story. Narrative Studio finds the honest framing that ties your evidence together; Evidence Binder and Petition Studio (or AI Drafter, when an attorney is on the case) turn it into a real draft.

Narrative frame:The Independent Researcher
What you gain: One coherent narrative connecting your evidence, plus a real draft your attorney can start from.

This map reflects preparation steps you've taken, not a prediction of your case's outcome. Merito is not a law firm and does not offer legal advice.

02

The seven stages.

01

Foundation

Every tool in Merito reads from one structured Case File, built once from your uploaded documents. Nothing downstream — score, canvas, audit, simulator — works from a real record until this exists.

02

Assessment

Score, Case Canvas, and Merito Audit each look at your file from a different angle — a readiness score, an evidence-to-criterion map, and a rule-based document check with a final consistency pass. Together they tell you exactly where the real gaps are.

03

Strengthen

This is a loop, not a single step: Opportunities, Radar, Citation Lens, and Expert Finder each surface a different way to close a specific gap Assessment found. Come back to this stage as many times as you need.

A strong record still needs a coherent story. Narrative Studio finds the honest framing that ties your evidence together; Evidence Binder and Petition Studio (or AI Drafter, when an attorney is on the case) turn it into a real draft.

05

Stress-test

Before an officer reads your file, see how it holds up under scrutiny. Officer Simulator, Devil's Advocate, and Debate Mode each argue against your own case from a different angle, so you find the pressure points first.

06

File & watch

A final Pre-check pass (with attorney sign-off, when one is on the case) before filing, then Case Tracking keeps the USCIS status updates you record in one place once your case is in the system.

07

Respond

This stage stays dormant unless USCIS actually issues a Request for Evidence — most cases never open it. If one arrives, RFE Studio gives you structured, objection-by-objection guidance for responding.

One map,
seven real stages.

Each stage points to the exact Merito tools it needs — nothing generic, no guessing what's next. Come back to Strengthen as many times as your case requires.

02b

How the map itself works.

01

Seven phases, one path.

Foundation to Respond: the map shows where your case stands and marks where you are.

02

Each stop is a tool.

Every stop says whether it is ready to start, suggested next or completed, and keeps up as you use the tools.

03

See how far the current phase has come.

Phases complete, and the steps done in the phase you are in.

04

Follow the path, or use any tool directly.

The next step is suggested; the map keeps up either way.

Seven stages,
one clear map.

Case Journey doesn't just list the seven stages — it shows which are complete, which is current and which come next, and what each stage still needs.

03

Why a chatbot can't plan your case journey.

A path across 20+ tools needs one shared file each stage reads and writes to — not a conversation that forgets itself between messages.

Each chat starts from zero.

A chatbot has no memory of what the last tool found. Every Merito tool reads and writes the same Case File, so stage 5 already knows what stage 2 established.

It doesn't know which stage you're in.

Advice that's right at Foundation can be wrong at Respond. The map tracks your actual stage and recommends the tool that fits it.

It can't tell you what's recommended before what.

Some steps are more useful after others (a Merito Score before Case Canvas, for instance) — a chatbot has no sequencing model, only whatever you ask it next.

We're the guide. You're the traveler. Following this path is sufficient to do the process right — but it's still your path, not a checklist you're locked into.

Free and paid follow the same path.

Every stage is visible on the free plan, including which steps need Pro or Counsel — never a surprise paywall mid-journey.
Pro and Counsel unlock the tools each stage actually needs (Case Canvas, Officer Simulator, Evidence Binder, and the rest) — the map itself is free for everyone.

Questions

Do I have to follow the stages in order?

No — every stage is reachable directly at any time. The gates are advisory nudges ("recommended before this"), never locks.

What if I have more than one case?

The map follows your most recently active case. Each case gets its own journey — progress on one never affects another.

Does completing every stage mean my case will be approved?

No. The map reflects preparation steps you've taken, never a prediction of your outcome. Merito is not a law firm and does not offer legal advice.

See where your case actually stands.
